Trang An is a world-renowned destination in Vietnam, recognized by UNESCO as a Dual World Heritage Site for both its natural and cultural values. It is famous for its majestic limestone mountains, emerald rivers, and mysterious caves.
 
1. Location & Geography
  • Address: Truong Yen Commune, Hoa Lu District, Ninh Binh Province.
  • Distance: Located about 90km south of Hanoi.
  • Landscape: Situated in a transition zone between the Northwestern mountains and the Red Sea Delta, the area is surrounded by winding limestone ranges, serene rivers, and lush flooded valleys.
     
2. Why Visit Trang An?
  • Ancient culture: Discover traces of human habitation dating back over 30,000 years.
  • Natural beauty: Marvel at the spectacular "Karst" topography with unique geological formations.
  • The experience: The highlight is a tranquil boat tour. Instead of large cruise ships, you will glide on a small traditional sampan through a network of caves.   • Opening hours: Daily from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
  • Entrance Fees (Per Person):

Children (1m - 1.3m): 150,000 VND
Children (< 1m): Free
  • Private boat: Boats usually carry 4-5 people. For a private experience, you can book the entire boat for approximately 1,200,000 VND.
  • Tour duration: 2.5 to 3 hours, depending on your chosen route.
  • Three Scenic Boat Routes:
Route 1: For cave lovers (9 caves & 3 temples), including the famous Dia Linh and Bright/Dark caves.
Route 2: A perfect balance of nature and history (4 caves & 3 temples), featuring the stunning Vu Lam Royal Step-over Palace.
Route 3: The newest route, featuring the 1km-long May Cave and the former "Kong: Skull Island" film set.
 
4. Transportation
  • Luxury shared limousine: The most popular choice from Hanoi (approx. 1.5 - 2 hours). 
  • Private car: Direct travel via Phap Van - Cau Gie Highway or National Highway 1A.
  • Train: Take a scenic train ride to Ninh Binh Station, then a short 7km taxi/Grab ride to the site.
  • Local travel: Once in Trang An, renting a bicycle or motorbike is the best way to soak in the fresh countryside air.
